Little Innoscents Interviews Australian Made, Australian Grown Marketing and Communications Manager, Stephanie Salter about an iconic brand that we all know and love.
What is so important about being Australian Made?
Australian made products have a lot of advantages. They’re made to Australia’s high standards and our unique environment. They can be customised to suit your own requirements. And they often come with warranties or after sales service, providing you with that extra peace of mind.
How do you know if something is Australian Made?
Research shows shoppers are confused about what the claim `Australian Made’ really means. But there’s no need to worry.
When you see the Australian Made logo you can be sure the item has actually been made here and at least 50% of the cost of production has also been undertaken in Australia.
The Australian Made logo is a certification trademark, which means it’s governed by a strict set of rules approved by the ACCC.
It can be found on more than 10,000 authentic Australian products and produce.
Why is it important for our economy to have a large amount of Australian Made products?
By buying Australian made products, you are reinvesting in your local community. It helps create jobs, skills training opportunities for young people and generates wealth for the nation.
How does the rest of the world view Australian Made?
Australian products are renowned world wide for being innovative, high quality and, in the case of Australian grown produce, clean, green and great tasting.
What can I do as an individual to help our country to produce more goods?
As shoppers, we need to think more consciously about the choices we make and the follow on effect these have each time we buy something. By generating greater demand we can, in turn, encourage greater supply.

Congratulations to all the finalists last night in the Micro Business category at the 2011 Victorian Telstra Business Awards. It was an honour to be amongst such great businesses that share the same ideals and passion us as. Our friends from B.Box for Kids were in the same category with the overall winner The Wall Sticker Company. We wish them all the best on their exciting journey from here.
It was a wonderful night for Little Innoscents too. I couldn’t think of a better opportunity for me and my supporting team to come together and celebrate our hard efforts than a gorgeous dinner at Melbourne’s Docklands Pier with a buzzing business crowd. Telstra certainly put together a seamless and classy evening. We made it to the final six companies out of hundreds of other Victorian entrants and will go down in history as a 2011 Telstra Business Awards Finalist… Woo hoo!
